The general issues still are true.
Well, that's the job of the media. Our job is to get GC. Although the issues are true, I would still prefer having absolutely correct articles, so no anti-immigrant could point his/her finger saying "look, immigrants are spreading lies". Just like we bashed them when they were claiming that we pay less taxes. It was a good point to discredit them.

I hope, Skil bill has the provision to lost recapture visa numbers. If the big news Monday benefits us in having AOS filed, then we are looking at recapturing visa numbers anyways.
Why not lobby for it ? If Dream Act can pass as ammendment in Defense Policy Act, why not SKIL Bill ?
If they can attach Dream Act as an amendment to the Defence policy Act why cannot they attach SKILL to the same. That is the question we should be acting on.
I think expecting Sen. Cornyn to do something now is kind of remote. He is going to be facing elections soon in 08. May be Cantwell is the one to do it.

I called USCIS NSC yesterday and asked if my new approved I-140 was interfiled with my pending I-485. The IO asked me for my A# and then told me that she doesn't see the new I-140 starting with SRC on the system. She only sees the original I-140 with the LIN. It was very frustrating to hear this as I had called NSC a week before and the IO told me that the new I-140 is in the system and visa was available for me. However, I remembered that last week the IO did not ask me for my A#. She only asked for the receipt numbers of my pending I-485 and the new I-140.
Friends, what else can I do to make sure that my newly approved I-140 under EB2 is interfiled?
Speaking from my case, I called NSC for the same reason multiple times and every time the information I got (now looking back) was either useless or insignificant. Only one procedural info I got once was correct. They informed me that when you Interfile, your request goes into your file and no receipt or any other update is done to your case. When your 485 app RD becomes current and an IO picks up the case to work on it, should consider the Interfiling request. If your PD is then current due to the Interfiling request and every other detail on your 485 app is complete, your case is approved immediately. That is exactly what happened to my case. Calling them is less fruitful and more frustation. I only called them once a month after they changed their processing dates for the month just in the hope I may get lucky with an IIO who may give some info. Never did. I also took an Infopass, but that was fruitless too, as they also could not provide any information. Just asked me to wait until my RD becomes current.
Hope this gives you some perspective and lowers your anxiety.

realized late that he had the expiry date wrong in his mind. So he has applied and it is > 100 days. They moved the already CPO date from Oct 10 to 29th, stating "lack of printable cards" (learned through info pass).
Imagine he is sitting at home, not working for > 3 months because he did not keep track of his expiry dates.
Because of one negligence, he is losing a lot of salary by not working. :(
The current EAD delays is certainly scary. Hope it is an exception not the norm.:mad:

Most of us are concerned about short term goal of getting the application to uscis as quickly as possible , but think of the end result of whether your application be accepted if we rush, the uscis can come back and reject at any time from any date as it happened to Eb3-other workers. In any case there is a very good chance that your wife will kill u ;)

for those with masters or phd there is already a special quota called EB1. All of the others are not different from one another. if with your MS/PhD you are going to do the same kind of job any qualified person from India would do, what is the need for a special catagory. You have to prove your point then everybody will agree. Just by saying "special quota for MS" we will ask; WHY? show us the reason. I know lot of engineering graduates/MBAs/research scientists who have got MS from here but dont see any special significant contribution. I also know lot of professionals (specialists in medical / other fields) who were trained in the US and are significantly valued all over the world. So to put it briefly, this argument will not work with the law makers. People with PhD and lot of publications / patents / significant contributions etc definitely need a special quota and they already have one. The rest of us are in the same boat friends.

Mine is a CSC to NSC xfer case. FP done in Jan'08 Received HLUD on 02/09 and SLUd on 02/10 for me and my family's 485s. Nothing after that.

Disclaimer: I am just someone who once seriously considered getting a degree in Strategic Studies. I am not from India. If you don't like what I have to say or feel that it is not my *place* to say it, just ignore me. I will not get engaged in an online wrestling match to demonstrate my "e-toughness".
It will not have any major repercussions b/w the 2 countries or any impact on the Green Card situation. Relations b/w US and India encompass a much broader spectrum than just a large defense contract. India's economy presents enormous opportunities for US companies, there is the issue of countering China and not to mention the same view on most regional as well as international security issues. They will not get any where if they start slugging it out every time there is a lost trade deal. India has helped US in the past with Iran's nuclear program while US has shown the importance it gives India by pushing an exception from NSG in nuclear energy.
If anything I am surprised that US is surprised that they lost the bid. Both Rafael and the Typhoon are amazing platforms. I did not read the actual RFP but it is arrogance to assume that the US offerings were inherently any better than the European offerings.
@kumara121: I can assure you that Uncle Sam does not want to "..come and check the planes whenever and wherever it wanted to". If I only had a dollar for every conspiracy theory I hear from people from our part of the world (Pakistan, Indian, Bangladesh) I would have been in Eb-5 years ago :)
The biggest issue was that the US offerings were very comparable to existing Mirage 2000 platform that IAF already has. The MRCA is a long term upgrade and does not make sense to get a plane that is so close to the existing inventory.
Bottom line? The GC aspirants did not gain or loose anything. IAF won by getting a hot fighter, the only loosers are Boeing and Lockhead.
Great analysis!! Eurofighter is newest of them all... moreover, Indians have already made great indigenous design enhancements to the existing SU-30 MKI's that they really wouldn't want an American make anyways. I'm not sure why the SU-35's aren't in that list??
