    1) Try state group insurance
    Texas and for that matter every state has a group insurance coverage for folks
    who donot get coverage from any other insurance provider.

    This is a coverage that you will get for sure, only document you will need is a written paper from insurance company that one cant be insured.

    Check the state insurance board website.

    2) check free clinics, these clinics will provide complete care ( you can pay them if you like)if you dont thats fine too. I suggest paying them if you can even if its a bit high, as someone who cant afford may one day get to use this service too.

    3) Ask yours employer's insurance agent, group insurances gurantee insurance.

    Donot worry, life works in interesting ways. As last resort one can go to home country for delivery.

    Yes you are right, there is bound to have EAD flood in market, with spouses of hi-tech worker will come to market to search hi-tech job with spouse phone support. I have seen such cases countless times in past few years and yes they will be in future without exception. However, matter of fact, these fresh EAD (previous H4) don't get the dream job in first attempt, it takes good 2 year to find a similar job that H1b hitech worker does.
    But thats the realty of market, every year new jobs are added and every year new job seekers join the crowd.
    On the otherside, a hitech worker is suppose to always learning something new and getting his/her position more stronger everyday, its a knowledge market, whoever knows more gets better $$. With my 7yr US exp and total 10 yrs CS exp I have no scare that any single fresh EAD will come close to me. A senior is always a senior no matter which field you talk.

    If I were a person of Latino origin, I will be very angry with folks who assume that all Latinos are illegals.


    Thankfully for the Latinos, you are not one of them!!!!!!
    The difference between us and the latinos is that they stand by their community, irrespective of illegal or legal. Every latino that is coming on TV, organizing the marches, giving interviews to the newspapers are legal latinos defending the illegals.

    They are saying that all those people who were illegal before 1st of Jan 2007 are eligible for Z visa. We all are currently in legal status.
    u can easily get an affadavit from someone with a business that says u worked there for a period of x days while ur h1 was with yyy company... that puts u into an illegal category too.

    i m growing some tomatoes this summer....maybe i can get additional points if i grow them for 100 days every year and then after another 5 yrs i can get some more points in the new merit based system

    they have delayed processing time so more people will file for premium processing and they earn more money. H1b quota is not filling up and all of a sudden processing time went from 2 to 6-7 months in 1 month. Because so many people ( h1 - h4 ) might be travelling in dec - jan season. Come back in feb - march and processing time will be again 2 months.
    ICPS printing problems , Delays in approving will happen even if they make premium - join me in this drive if your EAD Card approved and still waiting... we need more people... let the word spread ASAP.

    I am a physician MD currently doing IM residency on H1B. i have a job to start from oct 2007. since PDS for india are now current, i would like to know if my employer can file PERM for a prospective employee now in june. my univerdity lawyer is not clear or rather not willing to file.

    I understand that there is lot of fear among applicants that USCIS might retrogress the dates interimly sometime in july due to the expected high volume of applications filing in the begining of july.

    To minimize the chance of USCIS from taking any such steps, shall we all unite and file the applications on a specific date in july probably on 30th of july? This will accomodate all applicants...so that we shall all be winners and use this opportunity to our advantage instead of competing amongst each other...where only a few will be winners and others will be loosers.

    This will also reduce the pressure among applicants , attorneys and doctors.

    Can the AILA cooperate? Will there be unity amongst applicants to make this possible??? any ideas ??

    When I think, you guys have reached the bottom of madness, you keep digging deeper...As such there is enough madness with INS in allowing every tom, dick and harry who filed in 2007 to be on par with those poor souls who have been waiting since 2002/2003/2004...And add to that fact that, you already got approved...And you want those poor souls who waited long enough, to wait for those lucky 2007 filers...Can your suggestion get any madder? :eek:

    Since we already applied for I-485, I am keeping my fingers crossed. Her employment letter (submitted) only says that she is employed with the company and her employment is valid till 2008.

    Isn't valid/unexpired I-94 counts as legal status not the approval notice. Also what if the employee takes a un-paid leave of absence due to health reasons etc.

    I am sure so many in the same boat. Is there anything we could do?

    She would still need to be on the Payroll and reported as an employee, preferable from the date of COS, If making a case of vacation or medical leave.

    Where did you get 30 days information? What if it is 40 days instead of 30 days? Is there any official document about this?

    Person, if in USA, has 30 days to start working for H1 employer after CoS approval date. One more thing, one can start working after applying for SSN without waiting for getting actual SSN.

    It seems that she was out of status.

    It was filed @ NSC on July 6th, ---> CSC -----> NSC. I got my LUd on 09/21 last on our 485.

    In that case, at least you will have your EAD and AP and can change your blood sucking deshi consulting company after 180 days and can peruse better employment opportunities.

    Lost in the big hoopla of 1 yr jump and hopes of similar advancement for others in May VB are the following facts.

    1. USCIS is about to raise fees for all immigration related procedures beginning from June 1st
    2. Visa quota ends in September and it takes on an average of 4-6 months to process I-485.
    Let me detail 2nd step. If they move dates forward by say 1 yr and thousands become eligible for 485. They will accept those cases, get fees from those lucky souls and make the dates unavailable after 1-2 months. Remember last year they were moving dates by 6 months till they made it UNAVILABLE for August and September.

    Completely baseless and irresponsible statement from Mr. Gotcher!!!

    He contradicts his own statements:

    "If these statements are true, then the end of the current mess is in sight.
    If the CIS really has wiped out its processing backlog, then when the "pre-adjudicated" cases are given visa numbers in the next fiscal year, cutoff dates should advance rapidly. At a minimum, we should see them return to February 2007 levels, if not closer."

    CONTRADICTS:

    " EB2 China and India: Outlook is "grim" and there may be further retrogressions until later in the fiscal year."

    On what basis he thinks that EB3 India will have PD in 2001 but EB2 India will further retrogress (currently it is stuck in 1999):

    "EB2 China and India: Outlook is "grim" and there may be further retrogressions until later in the fiscal year.
    EB3 India: November 1, 2001"

    AND THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS REMARK IS FOR CIR: Look at this:

    "Of course, all of this becomes academic if CIR is passed. In that case, all priority dates will become "current" overnight and remain that way for years."

    Yeah...right...this is same Mr. Gotcher who predicted that "if you do "consular processing" you will get your GC very soon as USCIS does not process cases"....Look what happened...

    First of all he mentioned that 500k app in 2007 and then USCIS used 280k in 07 and 08. so 220k remaining. Dont forget that they opened gate till 2006 where so many people who got their labor cleared from backlog centers in 2007 ( Sep , after july 2007 thing ) applied.
    So I would say out of 500k it didnot reduce 2 years but only 1 year ... so total left are 360k - 140k ( 2009 ) = 220k remaining. Now that they have pre adjucted 110k so 110k left. If they stop accepting new app for next 2 years then they can clear all mess in 2 years but law prevent them to do so...... so end of mess for ROW contries is near ( with improved USCIS process )... but for India out look is grim as law prevent india to get more than 3k if there is more demand from ROW and Eb4 and Eb5.


    also If CIR passes and they add recapture then it will make dates current becasue those visa go on oldest app first. ( God knows who is oldest here ) but given that india has lot more app pending in back those recapture can clean lots of indian backlog while new supply keep going to ROW countries.


    To me the bottom line is " VISA RECAPTURE " either law suit way or congress through.............. other than pack ur bag and head to wards home.... ( specially people like us who didnot file AOS and very tough to be on h1b after 6th year is over ) ..
