Hi All,
I am self-filing my i-131 application this week. Here are the briefs about status:
Current Status: Working on EAD, 485-pending (July 2007 Application)
I am dependent on my husband's green-card application. I used my 6 years of H1-B and started working on EAD about 6 months back. We never applied for AP before. My husband extended his H-1B beyond 6 years as I-485 is in process.
I am tryin gto find complete list of documents for the application. I am planning to travel on Caribbean Cruise on Feb 27, 2010. I hope to get my AP approved by then. To avoid any RFIs I wnat to make sure I am sending everything that is needed.
1. Completed form I-131
2. 2 Photographs (size 2x2) with white/grey background. Head height and eye positions as per USCIS guidelines.
3. Copy of EAD
4. Copy of I-797C (I-485 receipt)
5. Copy of Arrpoved I-140
6. Copy of all pages of Current passport
7. Copy of all pages of expired passport
8. Copy of Driver's License
9. Marriage certificate (do I need this? Because I am am dependent on my Husband's 485 application)
10. Birth certificate (again do I need this. but I read somewhere)
11. Letter explaining why I qualify for AP (is there standard format for this? )
I really appreciate all help regarding this. I read many posts but most of them were about renewing AP or EAD/AP together.

It does not matter who you are working for what matters is where you are living. Let's say there is a theft at your home while living in US, will you call Canadian police or US cops?
If the answer is US cops then the answer is very straight forward, you have to play by the rule of the land where you are living,
there is only one exception
If you work in a Embassy then you are on the autonomous land of the respective country, so if you are planning to work for Canadian Embassy then you will not need any US visa.

Hi everyone,
I have a related question. I am a canadian citizen now and am still maintaining an H1b. My H1b stamp had expired in 2007 though.
I had applied for AP in january but its still pending at NSC.
Now I have to go to India for my brother's marriage.
My question to you all is-Since I am still on H1B (and If am not wrong, canadian citizens do not require H1B stamps)-- will it be ok if I travel without an AP.

Sent the all the existing I 94's and Passport.
Guys,
my RFE response reached VSC on Oct 31st and online status says
Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed.
Anyone with idea on how long approx it will take to get approval. Have to travel by end of Nov and USCIS delay is resulting in really expensive air fare.
Let's keep all of us updated on these RFE on AP.

billa went to Texas A and M for his Mechanical Engineering and then moved into a lucrative job at a world famous oil company in Houston. His company has offered him a permanant job and offered to do his Green Card. But they don't know he will be leaving his job to go to Dubai because of Green Card logjam and uncertaainity that prevails.

My I-140 is still pending at NSC.
I am planning to change my apartment. Same city, different zipcode, better deal!
Please advise when is AR-11 to be filed, is it based on lease start date or actual move date? :confused:
Here is my question:
In order to avail the deal, I need to "move-in" by 05.05.2009. So my lease at the new place will start on 05.05.2009.
Due some reasons, I cannot physically into the apartment till 05.16.2009. I will still be in my old apartment until then.
So when do I need to file an AR-11 form, by 05.15.2009 (10 days after my lease starts) OR 05.26.2009 (10 days after which I am physically in the new apartment)?

I wish people here are more sympathetic to those who are ignorant about
the gravity of the current situation.

this is the painful truth. Don't think about this too much....we are all coping with this. CIR seems to be dead...Will we get some other legislation to help us out? don't know, may happen...
Unfortunately, a good many people who havent joined IV yet are also blissfully ignorant of the gravity of the situation. They think its a temporary traffic jam, while in reality our path to a GC has been blocked by a landslide.The backlogs will keep on growing till the authorities (lawmakers in our case) clear the road .. or the affected traffic takes an alternative route.

Well.. speak of the devil.. I did score the publisher's tickets for the Heat game.. Not where I thought they were though.. It's section 14, row 5, seats 10,11,12,13. So I'm over in the corner behind you it appears.
Checking the Fieldhouse website it says:
"Camcorders/Recording Devices:
�Still� cameras are permitted at Pacers, Fever and Firebirds games. No Video cameras are allowed. During other events this policy will vary, and guests may be asked to check these items in at Guest Relations in the Entry Pavilion."
I've never bothered to bring a camera into the games ever.. It seems as they are pretty liberal in the policy -- kudos to them.
Now I'm going to exploit it. :-) My wife is going to the game with me and I'm guessing she is going to give me grief if I drag the borrowed 300 w/o the hood into the game.. I went down to work to borrow it this afternoon.. I'll probably have to settle for the 70-200 after she throws a fit.

Just consulted a lawyer and he gave me following solution:
2 applications (1) F1 visa application; (2) I-212 Waiver.
I was asked specific question thru which I got trapped . He gave me 2 options either accept that I worked and not be banned from US , or argue and be banned for 10 years . I was not given many choices . When asked forcefully I simply accepted .
Contacted murthy and rajiv kanna but they declined . Is there any lawyer who handles student deportation cases . Please advise .

I was in the same boat as you. I did not get my wife's AOS receipt but all others ( 5 out of 6) . But when the FP notices came with her AOS receipt number on it, I thought USCIS may have misplaced the receipt.
Right after the fingerprint, we received this LUD on her AOS case:
Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Current Status: Notice returned as undeliverable.
On October XX, 2007, the post office returned our last written notice on this case as undeliverable. This can have serious effects on the processing of this case. Please call 1-800-375-5283 to update the mailing address so this notice can be re-sent.
I was shocked. I have emailed the company law firm and I'm awaiting response from them.... Have they mistyped their own address since that is supposed to go to them? Or USCIS is just pulling my legs?

Friend of mine got her DL renewed for 1 yr based on EAD as her h1b extension is not approved yet.DMV ppl look at her EAD and renewed her DL for 1 yr without any questions. So i guess you are fine with yr DL extension for 1 yr. As per my understanding and some of the posts , i think you won't loose yr H1b status as you are not using EAD for employment. And answer to yr last question is my frd got her DL renewed in VA only. She got it at DMV on Gallows Road, VA (it's in Fairfax,VA). Hope this helps.

They r a bloodly lazy bunch they sit on ur passport and do nothing. So please take the day off and go collect it. I called them atleast a hundred times and basically our passport was ready and they have not mailed it. so please keep calling endlessly they will pickup at some point but my advice is go and collect it urself.

I may have to travel urgently to India by end of this month. Just wondering if anyone recently got their passport renewed at DC and what was the duration. It will help me to take the decision about departure date. Unfortunately DC is 5 hours drive from where I live. I am not sure even if take a day off and drive to DC to collect the passport they will even give it to me on the same day. Multiple attempts to contact DC office via phone/email were not helpful. No one picks the phone and their voice mail system is always full. Any advise on what I should to do know status of my passport renewal would be appreciated.
