Paswan’s policy regarding control over production, pricing and distribution of steel, Lalu’s announcement to have Godhra carnage investigated again, DMK coercing the UPA Govt, to release Cavery water for Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister of Andhra (YSR) announcing 5 per cent reservation for Muslims, Chief Minister of Punjab legislating against Sutlej-Yamuna canal project are some of the examples to show that the UPA Govt. is virtually sitting on the edge. On top it, there is the Left occupying the driver’s seat commandeering the UPA Govt. We have a feeling that this Govt. is living on borrowed time and might fall sooner than later..: Sharad C. Misra.

This country is against slavery of mankind in any form ( atleast that is what they preach to the rest of the world).Knowingly or unknowingly they have setup laws which virtually make us slaves. If you are inviting high skilled workers you better make sure you have the laws to protect your businesses (employers) and the workers (us) in a fair and balanced manner. The conditions should not be such that either one can exploit the other. But currently we are almost used as slaves due to loopholes in the law and ineffeciencies in the immgration agency which allow the employer to exploit the high skilled immigrants.

I remeber how brutal Imran used to be to Indian openers with his deadly in-swinger. Those were days of good cricket ... a classy cricket. Outside cricket Imran still commands respect for being honorable and honest person.

Giving GC's for buying home seems toomuch biased and benefits only a subset of EB, and totally shifts the basis of the EB category.
On the other hand, if their visas can be exempted from the visa numbers(annual quota), but still tied to the visa dates being current for their priority dates, this will benefit the entire community and law makers can justify the approach without stiff oppositions, if any. To me this feels lot more reasonable and everyone(EB applicants) will evenly benefit from this.
Almost 20-30% of the Eb appl. from 2001-2005 should be already in a position to buy or bought a home. That should help dates move faster for older dates.
Just a thought. But this alone will NOT resolve all our issues and backlogs. Just speedsup the date movement in a steadily manner.

Is there certain minimum numbers of days one has to stay with the sponsoring company after getting the Green Card.
In my case I have been working with my current employer since Sept-2001 (almost 7 years).
Green card labor started in Dec-2001 and I-485 was filed in May and approved June, 2008.
I was in the middle of using AC21 just before my GC got approved, hence this urgency.

This memo is an eye opener especially for folks on consulting company assignments and those who are self-sponsored or who want to do their own business. Finding a new H1 sponsor would be extremely difficult as well (AC21 folks beware).
Now getting a new H1 or a transfer or a renewal, may be subject to very stringent scrutiny.
This memo has the potential to throw a lot of small boutique Consulting companies out of business and along with it many of their employees - whether they use H1 or not.

Thank you all for the insight and advice. I wish the US greencard process wasnt a bureaucratic blackhole. I have been here for 6 years amidst the so-called backlog reduction and the stagnant retrogression with no end in sight. It is really frustrating. My wife being a licensed physician cant work. We just end up coughing up our paychecks to uncle Sam and the lawyers. Unless something is done soon about the legal immigration process, I can see the US losing out to other countries which have a structured system like Canada and Australia.

amitjoey response is good, correct, to the point and more civil than any one else. As you said there are more silent readers who if don't see amitjoey's response will consider IV is trying to do something wrong by harsh response (through their senior members/donors). Just read all comments except amitjoey's the thread will give different view (-ve to IV forum).
When some one reads uncivilized comments they don't just think bad about the person but also get -ve impression about the forum. You are missing important point, just because some one wants to give comments so that silent readers find abt people like plainspeak/gcperm but in reality it works just against the forum nothing else.
And when we want to create a professional forum for a reason/cause, as a forum member we need to maintain some professionalism in our comments. If anyone find any thread is not appropriate respond perfectly like amitjoey or report it to moderator.
As a new member (joined just 2008 and read only reasonable threads) I never know someone GCPerm and anything about his/her good/bad threads. So, it doesn't add any value if senior members fighting on who is who.
I am speaking for benefit of this forum which will benefit every person who join/participate. Once we start accepting hateful comments it won't stop at any level and the forum will be filled with hateful comments. If you feel some thread/comment is not good better respond properly or report to moderator. Why we need to fill this forum with hateful comments when we have tools to avoid it.

2005. The guy at the college said to the FOBs (including myself)...Dress in your best suits, we are goin to a business meeting! all of us got excited. the meeting was attended by people of all colors. felt good that desis are heading it! then i joined paying around $250. Slowly came to know that its not my cup of tea. The quickstar guys have only few brands of softdrinks and other amway products, always nagging others to join in, faking a spontaneous friendship. The speeches they give at the meetings are all almost the same. they seem to have a standard text, and have an aquired american accent. they talk abt being financially independent, but losing perspective, friends, decency. after a few weeks, i got my refund, and pulled out.
2006. TX. a stranger desi lady was being so friendly to me and my friend in a Walmart. After sometime when she was trying to give her hubby's contact details, i walked away. my friend was caught up, and he wouldnt come! I got many follow up calls from her abt business meetings. i said NO.
2007. a friend of mine comes to Florida from India to do a phd in chemistry. calls me up and says im coming to DE for a meeting. you should come! he said it wasnt abt chemistry. I could immediately smell some amway stink. i advised him not to go for it. im glad he and a lot of others stopped getting into this quickstar quicksand.
I mean, the weeds are everywhere! and at all times.
Just like Telemarketing is regulated at the federal level from using deception, i hope this amway mania is kept under check as well.

I don't know what % of that group consists of H4 spouse of H1 folks. But i believe a good percentage of those applied through the TOEFL,GRE route.
And usually that happens to be 'low tier' universities in USA.

I agree. This is one of the good ideas to do. Most of the people can afford to buy a home in this down market. This idea is better than being badly treated by bad employers.

Another prove of government misconduct is violation of regulations
In addition to the aspirational 180-day deadline in 8 U.S.C. � 1571(b), the 8 C.F.R. � 103.2(b)(18) sets forth a detailed timetable for “withholding adjudication of a visa petition or other application if . . . an investigation has been undertaken involving a matter relating to eligibility or the exercise of discretion . . . .”
I doubt these regulations were followed in thousands of delayed I-485s.

We have also over a hundred WOM rulings were court acknowledged that the USCIS "unreasonably delayed" adjudication of applications. Moreover, the USCIS intentionally pushed people to go to court

Dude, I am not supporting anyone here. Neither Train tragedy not the killing of 2000 innocents. No civilized person would ever support any kind of innocent killing. You missed my point here. I am born and brought up in Hyderabad old city and had seen numerous community riots for nothing. Always its the " INNOCENTS " who gets suffered. These things gets created for nothing. With no reasons. When mob gets angry its gets impossible to control them. Government should have definite guts to control.

I supported Modi for the development he had brought to Gujarat. Look at the development in Gujarat before and after Modi.
A person who assists in the murder of people whom he has taken an oath to protect, cannot be really thinking about the country or for its development. By saying that HE is responsible for the development is clearly under estimating the capabilities of the gujrati people. The gujratis and rajasthanis are leaders in creating wealth and they did that for thousands of years successfully with world's envy before this ugly Indian came into picture.
